May Flay
40 kgs of epoxy, excellent 3D sculpting, new paint technology and a lot of patience is what it took to make this display for Senckenberg Museum of Natural History in Görlitz. The display is 1 m. long and shows the metamorphosis of Ephemera danica.
For the first time, we succeeded to make wings with massive grid embedded in a transparent membrane. We achieved the depth of colours at the body by building up layer upon layer. The colours on the nymph was 2D print applied to the cast of a 3D print.
The model was sculpted by Dmytro Teslenko and made in cooperation with Julia Stoess from insect-models.com
